It was with great poignance that we bade a fond farewell to Aunty Lee on Friday 29 August 2014. Aunty Lee has been with Little Star for eight great years. On behalf of everyone involved at Little Star, I would like to thank you, Lee, for all you has done for us - and for bringing us together, one last time, at your farewell feast: hamburgers and chips all round! What a lovely 'Little Star' gesture - teachers and children eating together! All of us wish you all the best on your new adventure!
I've posted a couple of pics of Icing Biscuit Day to the gallery. Click the Photo Album link or click here.
Today is a cause for much celebration at Little Star, apart from being payday that is.
It's Barbara's stork party! Barbara is our cook and cleaner.
Thanks everyone for the gifts.
Today is also Marcia's birthday! Marcia is the newest addition to the staff: she's our Grade R assistant.
Oooh, there's going to be much cake, methinks. Can't wait.
There's an important Parent - Teacher Meeting on Saturday 03 August at 08:30 for only an hour.
Now, I think I can hear some of you groan. But you know what? It is the children of those parents who come to these meetings who almost invariably do better than the children of parents who don't come.
Get into he habit of coming to meet your child's teachers - you've got at least twelve more years of meetings like these ahead of you, at more than one a year. It is probably one of the best things you can do for your child's education.
I look forward to meeting you.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PATRICIA!
Patricia is the assistant in the nursery and is also one of the longest-serving members of staff - if not the longest. All of us, parents and colleagues alike, wish her a lovely day, replete with much cake and the fewest nappies as possible!
Apologies for any inconvenience caused while Little Star's web site was down over the last couple of days. It's back up now.
Over time you can tend to become quite blasé about raffles but you can never deny that they're a great way to easily raise funds. This year's Easter Raffle has some great prizes, as you can see.
Raffle tickets are only R5 each and there's ten to a raffle sheet. There's only a couple of days left so get cracking!
Alternatively, why not throw caution to the wind and buy a whole raffle sheet for just R50?
There are super prizes for the children who sell the most tickets - one such prize is an Easter egg the size of a small planet.
I dare say you will have noticed that the courtyard has been prepared for tiling. Hooray! For years we have been humming and hawing about doing this project and now, at long last, it is well under way. The tiles arrived today - well half of them did. The other half were the wrong ones and had to be returned. We estimate that the tiling will take about two weekends and, hopefully, there'll be no interruption of service. That's the plan, anyway.
I want to take this opportunity to thank Tiffany for the pictures she took for the web site. You caught some great moments!
If you have any ideas for the further development of the web site, please feel free to make a comment.
It's taken a while but here it is - the new web site.
Enjoy! please feel free to leave comments.
